Yesterday, July 25th, our fellow Cadet sailors from UK were invited on board the "Fragata Libertad", Argetine flagship, during her stop at Liverpool Harbour in England. The reason for the invitation was to celebrate the organization of the 50th edition of the Cadet World Championship in December in Argentina. Paul Colquitt, Captain of the West Kirby Sailing Club Cadet Squadron, sent us his comments about the visit and a couple of pictures.
"UK Cadet sailors were invited on board the ARA Libertad today to celebrate the 50th Cadet World Championships which are being held in Argentina later this year. Alex Colquitt presented the ships officers with a Burgee from West Kirby SC, Alex at 14yrs won 3 races and and came 3rd overall in the Promotional World Championships in 2015. Alex's brother "James" proudest possessions are the Argentine sailing tops which he swapped at Lake Garda 2015, he wears them regularly. Thank you to all the Officers and crew of the ARA Libertad for making us feel so welcome and to the Organizing Committee of the Cadet World Argentina 2016 for making this happen. Paul Colquitt"
The invitation was made possible by the Second Commander of the flagship vessel, CMN Carlos Funes, to show their endorsement of the Championship.
